‘Do you guys sell horses ?’
“Yes,we do.”
‘Omg you can’t do that and also rescue them!’
Allow me to explain why that simply isn’t true.
.
I’ve been doing this for a minute. I have seen more than I could ever convey in the telling of it and I have learned what does NOT work, both for me and these horses.
There are a staggering number of sound, healthy ,athletic ,ridable horses that find themselves in the position of needing help.
The very definition of ‘rescue’ is to ‘Save one from a dangerous or distressing situation.’ Nowhere does it say ‘By this particular means only.’.
I’d like to add ‘And IMPROVE that life.’
That is precisely what we strive do.
That IS what we do.
For quite some time I was afraid to really put this out there, though I always saw wisdom in doing it this way.
I no longer fear what ‘people have to say’ about how we choose to do this.
.
I am in NO way ashamed of the fact that we take immense joy in providing safe, sound, healthy riding horses to be enjoyed by a family. Prospects. Projects. Companion horses.
Horses to suit MANY different wants.
Is that horse less rescued for going to a home that can not only afford to purchase them, but properly care for them long-term?
I’d say not.
I have absolutely zero desire to keep horses who can go on to make someone VERY happy and be loved in a ‘rescue situation.’
I have ZERO desire to asked the public to fund the feeding and care of all these horses.
I understand that that is how most rescues operate but I personally am incredibly uncomfortable with it. Ergo, I found a way that feels right to ME and allows me to better help more horses.
This also allows us to be incredibly picky about where they go AND to fund those still in dire need of being saved, medical expenses, ongoing care and more.
So yes. We sell horses.
That is NOT to say we do not provide long term sanctuary and care to horses who truly NEED it.The horses ‘no one wanted and still don’t .’
We work closely with a FEW select rescues for that as well.
.
If this is not something you feel you can support or get behind, we’d love for you to hang around anyway and see a lot of happy posts of these amazing horses.
If not, there are many more ‘traditional’ rescues doing great work who always need support.
If you decide to stick around ,we’re delighted to have you here !
.
Welcome to a lighter side of ‘rescue’.
